In the book Bridge to Tearbithia, I learned something new when I reread it this time. I learned that the truth is what you find in your heart. I always, always and always has one character that will eventually loose their innocence. And I noticed that in Jesse Aarons . He was very different before he met Leslie , after he met Leslie and after her death. He learned a new meaning of life outside he regular life of running and being the fastest kid in the whole 5th grade. He also learned that there’s more to a person than what you see on the outside similar to what happened between Janice Avery when Leslie talked with her. At that moment I noticed that Leslie is not only a great influence to Jesse but also to people in the small community. She was an outcast but she was an outcast who knows a deeper meaning to life and people. She was a true philosopher of the time in that small community and a true friend to Jess.
I am this person who is very judgmental on names. I know it is a bad habit but I tend to judge people by names and at first when I read it in 3rd grade, I kind of hated Leslie . That was because I had someone I despised with the name Leslie and I wasn’t reading the book carefully. Now even if Leslie is a fictional character, I mourn for her untimely death. I makes me cry because that part where Jesse wishes it was all a dream wasn’t real is almost like wishes something never happened and this just breaks my heart into pieces.
