Wintergirls

I have read wintergirls recently and it was pretty depressing alike the mood i was in when i read it. Wintergirls is about a girl who is going through teen-age problems like all of us middle schoolers and soon to be high-schooler. I really like this book because it seemed very intresting in my perspective. I truly like that book because it portrays some deep connections in friendship and struggles with life. I am a pretty depressing person so I can pretty much relate to how she is feeling when her best friend dies and comes back to haunt her.

I don't really think he family is that bad in my perspective because my family matter is very complicated with the stereotype "just because i am chinese". It is common to have family problems and pressure but not to be cruel or anything, I really dislike how she says how she hates her mom and things. I feel that a mother is the person who you should respect the most not only was she the one who gave birth to you but it is because she had raised you with her blood, sweat and tears. If I were to say i hated my mother. I would have cursed myself for the rest of my life.

The book is complicated but I could comprehend the problems well, I really feel that such a problem would have caused disgrace to our family's name if it happened to me. But this gave me some suggestions if i were to start a story on someone.

I find it funny that Lia, the main character seemed so whiny and such in the book. She showed no courage to stand up to much of any problems she encountered in the book. I felt frustrated when her friend called for help during her death and she just ignored it and lied about it. There is some distress between their friendships but if you had heard her messages before she died, you would have been able to call an ambulance right away to save her. But instead, she chose to hold her grudge against her even though she heard the voicemail message. I feel what she did was extremely cruel which contributes to the plot which i liked because just one mistake could take another's life
