This story for me was very emotional. It was disturbing as well because of the sudden death in the book. I had no idea it was related to the holocaust. I couldn't sleep for a week straight! How can the Germans in the story be killing without nightmares. This book's narrative may be fiction but i don't know hot the Nazis and the people during the holocaust can sleep seeing such horrid murder! That the Germans were doing was murder! Murder at an extreme pace! I really want to know. It's disgustingly brutal what the Germans did in the book.
I really felt bad for the 10 year old Sarah, having that she has to deal with the death of the people close to her and those she love. A 10 year old having to deal with the burden of such scary era in time. When that burden consumed her piece by piece, she herself faded off the face of the earth. Is that not sad. The fate of death was never far from this 10 year old girl.
Even though Sarah's Key's characters are fiction, They all have my sympathy; no, not the horrific murderers, they people whom died under false accusing. Sarah, her brother Michel, her dad, her mom, every victim of the holocaust has my sympathy because such thing should have NEVER happened on the history of the earth. All whom are victims of the Hitlerian Barbary , you have my deepest sympathy.
I used to feel bad for myself but this book shed light to the things that actually matter in life.
