An appetizer of sarcasm, main dish of satire and side dish irony. A wholesome meal of pure mockery for tyranny and Communism. (For those of you who misread mockery for monkey, O.o get your eyes checked) This book written by George Orwell is loaded for battle. Prepared to fight back to any responses made to this book. At first I personally thought this book was as lame as any other boring old "classics" book. But somehow, this book proved me wrong. While I was reading this book, I was thinking of flying pigs with atomic bombs attached to it ambushing another type of animal.
This book displayed a very different view on the world. I liked this book due to the fact that it is not about a teenager who loves a supernatural being, or a girl teased or teen problems. I have both read and experienced enough of that to last me a very long time. But this book was different, you may think that pigs are the most stupid animal on a farm but in this book, Napoleon; the name of the pig somehow is the leader in all of this. Even the names given the animals gives some information away.
One thing I found very interesting is the use of an other-worldly being and place. There was a raven who came down to the farm and told everybody that there was heaven all the way up in the sky. He was what I imagined to be a priest who wants to convert the animals to listening to Napoleon. The chicken sided with Napoleon making me think about how the church and religion was always backed up by the government as a way to brainwash a person into thinking the government is always right because "god" said so. The Raven's name is Moses which is kind of ironic due to the fact Moses is a religious figure in the bible.
Later the raven was exiled and was banished from their barn "kingdom". The chicken later sided with Snowball who is probably the representation of Capitalism and Democratic demonstration. These 2 pigs are competitors to each other because the leader whom was more of a socialist sided leader (Old Major) died a premature death.
Here's a list of the government parties of Animal Farm that stands out than the other ones.
Napoleon = Communism and Tyranny
Snowball = Capitalist and Democratic
Old Major = Socialist and Utopian dreamer/Reformer
Moses the Raven = Priest or religious leader
There are more minor symbols within the other characters but these are one that stood out the most and are easier to understand.
